Beading crafts for kids

Beading and jewelry making is a great hobby for all ages.  Kids love to get their hands working so beading crafts for kids are very popular as it is something you can do together.  There are many beading crafts for kids which include beading clothes, accessories and beaded jewelry. 

Bead threading for young children helps them to develop their co-ordination skills.  Most children find threading beads enjoyable especially if they are colored and different shaped.  One way of getting them more involved is to get them to roll their own paper beads to thread.  The home made paper beads can then be painted different colors and left to dry before being thread into a necklace, bracelet or just a decoration.

There are, of course, many beads and beading projects you can buy for small children which are designed for small fingers, and easy to thread.  Just ensure the beads you use are suitable for the age group using them as beads can be a choking hazard, so even if the beads say they are suitable for the age group you must still always supervise small children with beads

For older children you will find a lot bigger selection of items to make that involve beading such as mobile phone charms, jewelry, bags, and even hair clips.  Friendship bracelets are a great project to do with young girls, this is especially good for parties or sleepovers.  Beading crafts for kids can be used for any occasion; they can easily be brought out and put away so an easy way for kids to relax after school, or you can by kits of items to make for a beading party.

I find that my children are great inspiration for my beading designs I regularly bring out all my beads and set them out on the table then tell my children that I need a new necklace, bracelet and earrings.  They then spend ages going through the beads and arranging them into the items I want.  The ideas they come up with and not always useable but even then they are great inspiration as to how to put the beads together as they combine beads that I would not think of.

Best of all beading crafts for kids help them with their coordination and very often with their imagination.  If your children like beading then you help them progress with the hobby as they get older until they lose interest, or can continue on their own.  Beading is a great way to spend rainy days, as their mind will be active and concentrating on what they are doing.
