Scrapbooking
Technique
Scrapbooking technique is used in order to
give special effects to scraps and pages. Inking is a
technique used in scrapbooking, in order to bring some
variety to the scrapping style. The ink used should not
be extra nor should it be less, it should be appropriate
to your project. Scrapbooking technique is based on
creativity.
The materials that are required are; paper for
scrapbooking, sponges, color ink pads and stamps of your
choice. Other supplies are scrapbook cuttings and
templates. The paper should be dabbed to the ink and turn
it into different angles. The paper will have a smudged
color pattern. A sponge should be used to fill up the
color into areas with uneven figures. The best thing to
do is to rub the ends of the paper with the ink pad which
will give an appearance of various images on the entire
page. The ink will add more depth to the page lay out. It
gives an antiquity or a weathered appearance to the
scrapbook pages. The texture is enhanced due to the
insertion of colors. The ink should be brushed across the
end points of the pages. Using a stipple brush will bring
an inking effect to the scrap pages. This works best with
the glossy less papers.
Background
photo layout: If you have a photograph with high
texture quality, you can blow it up and use it as a page
background. The image can be enlarged or it can be washed
out as it will act as a background. Another photo can be
matted over the already existing photo in order to add
special effects. Ultra sound pictures are generally not
acid free and are not memory safe. This can be taken
care of by using an
archival spray which is available in all the scarp book
stores. While using the ultra sound for pictures, make
sure that you don’t crop the photo excessively so that it
does not deteriorate into the scrap
book.
Mosaic
Borders: A great scrapbooking technique is using
mosaic borders. It will add more inquisitiveness to the
pages of the scrap book. Split the scraps into squares of
equal size. The squares have to be sorted in order of its
color pattern and then store it into a bag with zip locks.
The card stocks should be mounted by highlighting the mortar
effects. Photo tapes can be used as an adhesive in order to
join the squares. The border of the scrap page should have a
cross line that will connect the double
pages.
Fiber
strands: Fiber strands is a very popular
technique used by avid scrappers. It is used in accenting
the layout of the page. The fibers can be filled with
funky colours and design using ink. The scrap can be used
for other purposes apart from photos like facts, sports
news, famous movies, labels and bills. All these could be
mounted on the scrap pages along with photographs.
Piercing is a famous scrap technique which adds illusion
to the dimensions of the page. Stamps are used for
piercing to give a desired dimension to the layout of
the scrap page.
