Organize Photos For Scrapbooking

Organize Photos for scrapbooking - Cropper Hopper Storage Box 4''x6'' Photos

It’s a known fact that photos or pictures add to the richness of life. At times, a photo is the only thing that one has after their loved one passes away. Hence, to keep, print, and store photos is very important. Once, a local newspaper had printed the photograph of the biggest living family in the world. It depicted five generations-right from great great grandfather to great great grandson. It also featured the oldest servant, whose age was around 100 years! This photo was one of those golden treasures of that family. Wasn’t it an amazing experience altogether? This treasure could be seen by the world as a photograph that was very well organized.

Need for organization: What comes to the mind on seeing a photograph? It takes the person back to the moment when they were photographed. This shows that most people generally associate photos with memories, most of which are special to the person. Who wouldn’t like to cherish those memories time and again? For this particular reason, the shelf life of photos should be increased. This can be done by organizing them in a systematic manner.

For years together, photos are found in different places like the garage, the attic, desk drawers, closets etc. Then there are albums of our favorite pictures. The best way out is to gather all the photos and albums of photos together where they can be spread out so that one can figure out their placing. A huge table can serve the purpose. It’s up to the individual whether he wants to rearrange the photos in old albums or just stick a note on each one of them to indicate the occasions/moments they correspond to. It should be noted that majority of old albums get worn out; hence they don’t remain photo-safe any more. It’s better to take out the photos from these albums as early as possible.

If the photos are stored in the hard drive of personal computer or online and have not been printed still, some time can be spent at the computer in jotting down certain notes about the photos. For instance- which year of life do they belong to, which events’ memory they carry, etc. Let these notes be bought to workspace. It won’t matter if the person does not intend putting all the photos in scrapbook albums. Organization would help in planning scrapbook projects.

Sorting of photos: Photos can be sorted in a number of ways. Most of the people prefer chronological sorting. This sorting can be by date or by event. If the photos go back many years, sorting by groups or decades of years would be preferable. Ideas for themes/events are inclusive of heritage/legacy, military, clubs, sports, school, first year of baby, weddings, birthdays, holidays, vacations, etc.

Labeling: Sorting should be followed by labeling. After that, storing should be paid heed to. To keep the photos safe, they need to be protected from three elements like light, humidity, and heat. The containers in which one wishes to store photos should be lining-free and acid-free. Paper contains these substances, so it should not be used.

You need to invest in some scrapbooking pens for journalling around your photos.
